Our visit to Maasai Boma...

We were greeted by Saitotu, the 29 year old son of the Chief of this Boma, or Maasai village. NEVER have we been welcomed so warmly, colorfully, with singing and dancing and hugs and friendliness! If you want to see the video, check it out on my Facebook page! The Chief of this Boma is 92 years old and has 15 wives!!! He married his last wife when he was 74 and she had 6 children. He has over 40 children, ranging in age from 59 to 6 years old which means he fathered his last child at 86! His son, who spoke perfect English and was our host for our visit, has had 6 wives chosen for him by his father so far and in 2014 he will marry all 6 on the same day! He has no choice in who he marries and his wives were selected before the daughters were even born! Not only did he speak perfect English, he also had a sense of humor that Michael could appreciate when he joked about one wife being trouble, two wives bring double trouble then more wives compound trouble so marrying 6 wives at the same time would be "thousand times problem" in one day!
