Inside a Maasai Boma

Inside this apprx 15 foot diameter Boma, name for a Maasai home, each wife lives with her children. The smoke was so thick I could barely breathe and is what is distorting these pictures. All cooking is done inside with only very small holes for ventilation. Their "mattress" is a cow hide and they carry their water from as far away as 3 hours round trip...EVERY DAY! This is why having many children equals wealth and status as all children work as young as age 4 tending cattle and sheep and carrying water!
