District 6
The area in Cape Town where 60,000 people were displaced, their homes and belongings demolished, and many Africans were brutally murdered! In an effort to heal those wounds and attempt reparation to the relatives of those families, the government has committed to giving the land to and building new homes for them. Check out the picture of what looks like grassy berms/hills running alongside the road. These are actually remnants of the homes that were demolished and never cleared off. This mural beautifully depicts an African woman carrying her belongings (a TV is on her head) as she is forced to flee District 6! Check out the views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic ocean from this prime real estate!
